Perusing farmers’ markets is one of the simple pleasures we enjoy this time of year. From picking out the perfect melon to taste-testing local honey, the produce-filled stalls spark your culinary creativity and inspire you to take on new gardening projects. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the local farmers’ market scene this summer, we’ve compiled a list of options around town (for both Davidson and Williamson counties).

Nashville Farmers’ Market

The Nashville Farmers’ Market is a longstanding Music City staple. The open-air farm sheds feature the products of area farmers, ranchers, and creameries — on the weekends, you can find everything from artisanal bread and cheeses to fresh flowers and fruit. You can even shop flea market items and homemade wares or stop by Gardens of Babylon for landscaping supplies and decor. While there, hit up the Market House for dining options such as Bella Nashville pizza and Succulent Vegan Tacos, or sit for a spell with drinks from Bubble Love or Farm City Coffee. There’s even Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream for dessert!

A community market in historic Sevier Park since 2011, the 12 South Farmers’ Market is a festive mix of food trucks, live music, and fresh produce galore. Browse baked goods, meats, dairy, and specialty items such as soap, homemade pasta, jellies, and granola, or head over to the line of food trucks for a snack from mobile vendors like The Grilled Cheeserie and Rolled 4 Ever Ice Cream.

East Nashville Farmers’ Market

Located on the corner of 5th and Woodland, the East Nashville Farmers’ Market is a bustling scene with over 40 vendors, including farmers, bakers, meat producers, and artisans. “Our primary season runs until the Tuesday before Thanksgiving so that customers can shop with their favorite local farmers for their big feast,” says Rebecah Boynton, who manages the market. After Thanksgiving, you can experience the Holiday Hygge Market, where they celebrate all things cozy and handmade to gear you up for Christmas. But in the meantime, check out the incredible assortment of goodies, from fresh trout and gulf shrimp to fresh peaches. So, bring your family, your own bags or basket, and your appetite.

Old Hickory Village Farmers’ Market

In addition to an impressive display of produce stands, the Old Hickory Village Farmers’ Market is home to house plants, tropicals, and flowers, vendors like Driver Blade Sharpening and handmade jewelry by Butter My Biscuits and Handmade by KM. Crievewood United Methodist Church’s parking lot is transformed into a farmers’ market each Thursday from May through September. Farmin’ in the Hall offers the usual selection of local fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, and crafts. Market-goers can enjoy live music, dine at food trucks, and shop the Parnassus on Wheels bookmobile. Each week also features a kid vendor!

Goodlettsville Farmers and Artisans Market

Held at Moss-Wright Park, the Goodlettsville Farmers and Artisans Market offers an assortment of fruits, vegetables, meats, breads, and baked goods. You’ll also find home garden plants, bath and body products, pet treats, and ready-to-eat hot foods.

St. George’s Farmers’ Market

Welcome the newest addition to Nashville’s farmers’ market community! True to its name, the Wedgewood-Houston Farmers’ Market will take place in the artsy Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, featuring fresh local produce and playing host to popular local vendors like Bad Luck Burger Club, The Peach Truck, Hidden Holler Farms, and many more. Check it out every third Thursday from June through October, and be sure to bring a blanket to spread out and enjoy your purchases.

Hip Donelson Farmers’ Market

The area coined “Hip Donelson” — just across the Stones River Greenway from East Nashville — has experienced tremendous growth recently, and nothing celebrates this thriving community quite like the weekly farmers’ market. On Fridays, from May through October, the Hip Donelson Farmers’ Market kicks off the weekend with produce and artisan products from vendors within 150 miles of Donelson. Guests also can enjoy food trucks and booths from local restaurants while listening to great live music.

Ashland City’s market offers more than just produce. Soak in the sights at the Riverbluff Park pavilion as you browse the selections of meats, baked goods, crafts, and more — all from local farmers and artisans, including maker Max Harris, who has been selling his handmade wooden bowls there since the market opened! You may also spot vendors at the same location throughout the week, as the pavilion remains open for vendors to sell independently from the official farmers’ market hours.

In Antioch, folks gather at Farmers’ Market at the Crossings for fresh, local produce and artisan crafts made or homegrown in the Middle Tennessee area. The market’s mission to unite the community is achieved as shoppers flock for the food, live music, chef demonstrations, health and wellness workshops, and other rotating activities.

Franklin Farmers’ Market

Due to high demand from loyal customers, this farmers’ market began offering a year-round marketplace that supports local farmers and sellers. Farmers travel from Thompson’s Station, Summertown, Woodbury, Watertown, Eagleville, and just about everywhere in between for the Franklin Farmers’ Market. Additionally, food and drink vendors offer delicious treats to keep you fueled as you shop the selections and artisan goods.

This successful weekly market in Murfreesboro’s historic downtown square boasts more than 50 vendors. They started several weeks early this year to accommodate spring vegetables and strawberries, and it just gets better from there. Nolensville Farmers’ Market
